The BA's annual public meeting, when?
http://www.broads-authority.gov.uk/news/events.html?&numItem s=10&start=10
Unless I'm mistaken its not even on the BA's own events guide.

Pity to miss it. I seem to recall they kept it quiet last year. Possibly to permit members to resign in the comfort and privacy of their own homes? OF

Let us not forget the tactical timing last year and rescheduling.
Come on, Keir, get this publicised; or, do you wish to be part of the withholding of information? |

You'll need to sit down at this year's event. Not so far to drop when the pain of laughter gets the better of you.
So perhaps we'll have to wait for the new chairs to be delivered to Damselfly Heights? |

Perhaps they don't have a d.v.d. ready with which to spin out the evening.
Yes, Kier, digitus extractus. |

isn't there a legal requirement for them to hold a public meeting every 12 months?
How long before the 12months since the last one is up? |

Don't suppose it'll be at the weekend to allow us exiles to enjoy the show too?
Didn't think so |

The Authority shall in every year hold an annual meeting
above taken from broads act how the heck can spring 09 be classed as annual? I feel a letter to the BA coming on in the very near future, once Mr GC has his confirmation leastways asking why the feel that 18months is now classed as annually. |

Marc,
My "sources" involved e-mailing the BA and asking the question. I cant publish the e-mail here though due to restrictions. Gary |

No, but you could tell us what it says without quoting verbatim.
Garry, you really shouldn't have needed to ask the BA, they should damn well be doing what they should be doing, e.g. holding an annual meeting annually and announcing the fact. Yet another typical example of rule bending/manipulation by the BA. It might be a small issue but it illustrates perfectly why the Bill has to be absolutely watertight and manipulation proof. A typically cavalier action by the doctor. I suspect it is thought that such a meeting would be unhelpful at the moment. On the contrary, it would allow a lot of very angry people the opportunity to express their disquiet. I suspect Colgate is hoping that Spring will coincide with Bill going through and becoming law. Right now I also suspect that some rather difficult questions might be asked. Squirming and trying to climb out of a hole of ones own making is hardly dignified. I also remember a comment re a certain someone resigning once the Bill has gone through. Would that be before or after the Public Meeting? Yes, I do have a suspicious mind, but present circumstances accepted, I think it prudent. The Broads Act is still in force. Yet another example of blatant rule bending, disgraceful. Seemingly unanswerable to anyone, not least the little people who pay his salary. |

Gary is correct.
Spring 2009. Weekend date. Date / time / venue yet to be determined, but will be published in the usual places including the BA website and that Broadsquit thing. So read it before you punch the hole in the top corner. It doesn't flush well anyway. Non believers (in the scheduling) may wish to contact John Davies, Broads Authority Information Officer on 01603 756031 or email john.davies@broads-authority.gov.uk but do try not to overload the poor chap, just one circular announcement would suffice? I enjoy retirement parties. GF |

We believe you Grunts. Date to be announced, dependent on the Bills progress!
E-Mail question might read 'Dear John, when is the 2008 Public Meeting?' E-Mail answer might read 'Dear inconsequential little person, the 2008 meeting is to be sometime in 2009. What does it matter anyway, you know that we won't listen to you?' So are we to have two public meetings during 2009? |

Marc, your quote is exact but a public meeting (not an annual Authority meeting which is meant by the clause you quote and is a very different beast) is not specified, so far as I can see.
Can anyone find the guidance or law on this as it applies to BA (is it "Best Advice"?). |
