What was that little word Kerry Turner was having trouble defining?

"We do not think the area can lawfully take the title 'National Park'. This is because those titles are bestowed by specific Acts of Parliament and the Broads legislation is different."

That is a verbatim extract from a letter from Jonathan Shaw, Defra minister to Keith Simpson MP for Mid Norfolk dated 31st March 2008. Strangely enough, a different letter dated April 3rd from Julie Tucker, Defra - Customer Contact Unit and addressed to one of the Awkward Squad uses precisely the same wording.

These are of course only the latest in a long line of similar letters from the Ministry that provides the BA funding.

How many more times do these self-delusionists have to be told?

Can they really be so stupid?

OF.

Prof. Turner hits back with the facts.

That's all right, then!

No, it b****y well isn't. Prof. Turner, you speak with forked tongue.

The Kilner letter 24.5.06 says you cannot call the area a National Park.

Another, very recent, letter is available from DEFRA saying similar.

The first draft of the Blasted Bill included as its first change, a new name - guess what? Whose Bill is it, Prof. Turner? Did you read it?

The second draft removed the change of name but included a new clause allowing a change of name at any later date. It was spotted and removed.

Who put those signs up at Whitlingham, the tooth fairy?

Get real, Sir and stop your awful posturing. When in a hole.....
