Hummm! I couldn't agree more, Peter.
The playing of the "Safety Card" should make the passage of the Bill easier. The Authority may think it can pull the wool over our eyes, however we all know different to that.
It will certainly do nothing to reassure me that I'll be any safer in the future than I have been in the past as very high speed craft come passing by at close quaters making excessive and dangerous (for broadland craft) wash.
The North sea, or some other water, separate from the Broads navigation, is in my opinion still the most appropriate place for this activity. They could still play to (what they think is) their audience, without worrying and annoying the rest of us who are simply partaking of quiet enjoyment of the Broads.
The boat safety scheme fills me with no more confidence either.
The whole Bill is just more legislation and oppression from those in authority against those who try to do the right thing and keep within the laws of the land. I've little doubt that those who have been flouting current regulations will continue to do so with the new ones, and continue to get away with it!
