After the debacle at Beccles when an exceedingly rotund outsider assured us all that the Broads was a national park, that seemingly the only people to applaud Packman were his staff, and that nothing vaguely positive emerged, I vowed that I would never bother with another one. Now it appears that the BA is of the same resolve!

I have scoured the 'events' page on the BA website. No mention of an Annual Public Meeting with The Little People. Are the Parish 'drop-in' meetings, where very few people do, intended to replace annual meetings?

A question was put to members at the NSBA AGM about the annual meeting.

It was whether it would be better held on a weekend or if it should revert to a weekday evening. The overwhelming vote was for an evening meeting and no doubt that will be relayed to the BA.

What these meetings achieve, I am not sure. I suspect they only conduct them because they are obligated to do so.

I'm sorry Richard, isn't that a case of selecting the voters to suit the result?

The NSBA AGM was staged on a weekday evening. Others who might well have voted for a weekend date probably couldn't get to the NSBA AGM because it was staged on a weekeday evening...

I can't help with an answer to your last line, it's why I didn't attend Beccles and probably won't bother to attend the 2010 affair. The event seems to clash with something more productive - like the annual general meeting of the Gobi Scuba Diving Club.

I think, Richard, that the question raised at the NSBA AGM was whether its own AGM should be held on a weekday evening or on a Saturday afternoon - i.e. it was nothing to do with the BA annual public meeting.

FWIW, I voted for a Saturday afternoon for the NSBA AGM citing the more user friendly time being especially helpful to out of area tollpayers. I was outvoted.

I also supect, Peter, that BA will align its annual meeting to this year's rather than November/December. We shall see.
