Iv'e been driving to work the last four mornings and there seems to be a hype about inflation on the local radio.

I have to somewhat agree that with the increase in the price of petrol and grocery bills climbing higher , it is infact a worrying time.

I'm sure somebody will correct me if i am wrong but the goverments percentage in fuel lies around 54%!!!

Is it time to act on such tax's that we continue to accept in this coutnry, why should the working class get penalised time after time?

What do you think?

if you take into account how much the Govt also charges the oil & gas companies (at source) for bringing oil & gas ashore then the percentage would be far higher again.

I am legion

...
well if government didn't charge for exploration & extraction licenses, Shell and BP would make even larger and more obscene profits.

more like the British Legion I reckon....

Ahh but the only reason profits are obscene is because people want to use their products more and more - the old adage of supply and demand comes to mind or "what the market will bear"

I agree to some extent with the quote "what the market will bear", but surely we the people dictate to the market?

We seem to have this ideology in this country that pricing the average family out of the economy is a good thing? (of course i am being sarcastic), but seriously, as british citizens we step back and take our government lightly, lots of us are guilty of complaining about our government but what do we actualy do to make these changes.

Changes are not happening because we do not protest enough.

I heard a story only last night where the French decided not so long ago to have a bank holiday, so they did! simple as that!

The French literaly declared the country its own bank holiday from friday to monday, i think it is brilliant!

A country coming together and saying no, majority ruled minority and why not in this case?

Power To the People Eh Sunny!!

And the though of more bank holidays sounds like sheer Joy

But

Will people stop going in supermarkets and shops will people stop using Resturants and petrol stations

there is no such thing as a bank holiday for these people and those involved in the logistics of supply to them ,and many are bound by tight terms and conditions within contracts of employment that are forced on them

"power to the people "...............well only some perhaps

but surely we the people dictate to the market?

Exactly but apart from a serious amount of gum flapping the great British Public dictates it is happy with prices by the nature of doing sweet FA!

Last time there was a fuel blockade I seem to recall most of the public being supportive by flapping their gums but by the same token the same public were flocking to the pumps to top up (just in case you know) and then whining like hell (more gum flapping) when supplies in garages & grocery shops ran out.

So by doing sweet FA the great mass of the public are dictating they are happy with fuel prices - words alone never change anything, to effect chnage requires action and the majority of people in UK PLC refuse to do anything as Fred Bloggs down the road will do it from for them.

There are ways of being better informed.

(1) Don't listen to local radio (especially RN)

Apart from rotting your brain it sedates you beyond the level at which you may drive acceptably.(Think of it as 'Radio Cannabis).
This is why so many people in Norfolk drive either like retired district nurses or suicidal dustcart pilots.

(2) if you insist in purchasing the Daily Mail, then offset the tendency to run in blinkers, by buying and reading at least two other dailies on a faint chance of managing a balance.

Then at least you'll be able to trash the government of the day for the right reasons. They'll always deserve it.

(3)Stop conversing exclusively with people who share your opinions, values or convictions.

This is where New Labour went wrong.

I think I can see some parallels here ...

I just heard a familiar 'cark' over Colegate.

Allegedly

The Labour Party have changed their emblem
from a Rose to a condom to more accuratly reflect
the Labour Political stance.

A condom allows for inflation,halts production,destroys the
next generation,protects a bunch of p***ks and gives a
sense of security while they are actually being f***ed

I take it, Finny, that you are too young to remember the sleaze and greed, and the destruction of our manufacturing base by Thatcher.

Unless my antenna is loose Peter, Finny's condom ditty is more commonly associated with the deserted Left, rather than the Rabid Right?
